Science & Magic

All phenomena of Zenkora can be classified into the Three Domains system. These domains are known to some as Science, Craft, and Impulse, which are theorized as the combination of two out of three constituents of existence.

the world of anor

Modern day Anor has four continents. The three to the east were said to have once been part of a single landmass, but broken by a war between gods, and so they are also called "The Shattered Continents". The single continent in the west, Eimia, is said to be holy ground.

holidays

Countless holidays and special observances exist in Zenkora, with rich historical ties to the vibrant tapestry of cultures strewn across the world. The modern era, however, is dominated by four events that are observed nearly globally, spaced somewhat equally across the year: festive New Year's Day, carefree Cherisdyn, solemn Peacemont, and spooky Mascabre.

Schools of Magic

In the 2nd and 3rd Eras, countless schools for the magical arts were founded across the globe in a vast array of circumstances, spurred by population and geographic expansion, and motivated by various economic, social, and political causes. By the 5th Era, only seven major schools remained, the rest either having either dwindled to tiny uninteresting communities or gone completely extinct from a variety of factors.

These schools are major centers for magical development and living, and are typically representative of the magical culture of surrounding regions, although this aspect has been the subject of controversy and criticism for the perceived pervasiveness of Laraenian magic and its influences. Each school, along with being a small population center for itself, has policies set in place for study and board from the secondary to the post-graduate level, a necessity given the considerable amount of geographical isolation that virtually all seven schools share.

The Solar System

The Zenkora solar system consists of a sun, eight planets (and one dwarf-planet), countless moons, a vast belt of asteroids, and even a black hole. Anor is the third planet from the sun, and is the perhaps the most vibrantly diverse world of the entire solar system, being home to humans and all manner of other creatures. The other inner planets hold life as well, though it was not until the spacefaring age that they became known to mankind.

The everworld

The Everworld is the name collectively given to a group of seven alternate planes of reality, bordering the "normal world" of Zenkora. Each plane governs a different facet of the universe, a realm that is also a physical manifestation of various concepts. Travel between the regular world and the planes of the Everworld was once plentiful and rife with thrill and adventure. Now the Everworld looms in ancient obscurity, once again waiting for pioneers and pilgrims from all corners of the universe.

The Evergen are the protectors of the Everworld, each a sovereign guardian of a different plane.
